Forbidden City (Palace Museum) Introduction
The Forbidden City, also known as Palace Museum, was completed in 1420 during the Ming Dynasty. It had served as the imperial palace for 24 emperors of Ming and Qing dynasties for over 500 years. It is the largest and best‑preserved ancient wooden palace complex on the planet, inscribed as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. Inside the grand palace complex, you can see magnificent throne halls, delicate imperial living quarters, precious art collections, royal gardens, Treasure Gallery and Clock Gallery. Every courtyard, wooden beam, stone carving and painted fresco carries profound Chinese imperial history. You will have enough time to wander, explore and listen to detailed historical explanation about royal daily life, coronation ceremony and important historical events.
Temple of Heaven Introduction
The Temple of Heaven was built in the same year as Forbidden City, 1420. It was the sacred worship venue for Ming and Qing emperors to pray for good harvest, rain and national peace. It is also a world cultural heritage site famous for perfect ancient Chinese architectural geometry, symmetrical layout and amazing acoustic effect. The tour includes the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, Circular Mound Altar and Imperial Vault of Heaven. The grand circular hall of Prayer for Good Harvests is the most iconic landmark of Beijing. The Circular Mound Altar was where emperors held heaven worship rituals. The Imperial Vault of Heaven keeps ancient stone tablets for heaven gods. Your guide will explain the philosophy behind the building design and the acoustic wonders of the echo wall.
Our tour schedule is designed with sufficient visiting time for both sites, so you will not be rushed like crowded large‑group tours. You can stop for photos, rest and ask questions whenever you want during the whole day trip.
